MARSHMALLOW TOWER CHALLENGE
August 17, 2022 - Students in Room B1 were presented with a challenge in this STEM project: To build the tallest free standing tower that can withstand a California 3.0 earthquake (shake the desk for 3 seconds). The construction materials for each person are 50 marshmallows and 50 toothpicks.
The 5th grade engineers used geometric figures of choice to build the tallest structure that they can using the materials provided. After 30 minutes of problem solving and dealing with sticky falling marshmallows, Youyi captured first place with the height of 13 inches!!! The best part was that at the end, the construction workers get to eat their towers!!! Good job engineers... until next time! |
