WHAT'S THE AREA?

Group Earth is trying to figure out a math problem for the Academic Challenge:
​In the picture, the big square has an area of 60 square inches. What is the area of the smaller square?
There is a really fast and easy way to find the answer (which does not require algebra). 😁

​5 points for the correct answer and another 5 points if you can tell me what is that fast and easy way​.

​​​Hint: It might be easier if you print out a copy and cut out the 2 squares or something... you can find the riddle on Mr. Pham's desk.

ANSWER: 30 square inches.
We turn the small square as shown in the picture. We can see that it is half the size of the big one, as indicated by the dotted lines. These dotted lines divide the large square into 8 triangles, and the small square into 4 triangles.
