CRAZY SLICES... & KIDS! (5 pts)

3/26/2023

Mr. Pham bought a pepperoni pizza for lunch one day. But the 5 players on TEAM YARIANNA complained that they should get some because they won the volleyball tournament. So Mr. Pham reluctantly divided the pizza into 6 slices but he took the biggest slice since he's so muscular and strong, and therefore, needs more food. 💪 Agree?😎
However, these annoying kids disagreed! They wanted EACH SLICE to be the SAME SIZE, SAME SHAPE and has the
SAME NUMBER of PEPPERONI PIECES on it. 🍕
Being very afraid of Yarianna and Marisol, Mr. Pham followed their orders. But how can he cut the pizza below into 6 identical slices each with the SAME number of pepperonis to satisfy the weird kids?
He knows that to make this work, the pizza slices cannot look like the traditional triangular shape.
Please use your creativity to help out before the Grandmaster gets squished by the two-headed monster, the "Scari-Yari-Mari."
* Grab a paper pizza at the "Mail Station" and drop into PhaMailbox when you're done slicing.

ASYLUM GEYSER-8 points

Picture
While spending the Winter Break at Yosemite, the "Asylum Boys" discovered an active geyser (a hot spring of boiling water, shooting a tall column of water and steam into the air at certain times). Yosemite officials named the geyser "Asylum" for their discovery. The eruptions of this "Asylum" geyser are very predictable. Below are the last five eruptions:
1. at 12:00 P.M. for five minutes
2. at 12:50 P.M. for six minutes
3. at 1:44 P.M. for seven minutes
4. at 2:42 P.M. for eight minutes
5. at 3:44 P.M. for nine minutes
6. ----- ?
Can you calculate what time and how long the next eruption will be?
(Hint: There is a formula. Look for patterns of the duration and time.)

ANSWER:

"O-Chads" geyser next eruption will be at:
4:50 P.M. for 10 minutes
.
The formula used to figure out the time until the next eruption is 4D + 30 minutes, where D is the duration of the last eruption. So...
4 x 9 + 30 = 66 mins or 1:06. Therefore 3:44 + 1:06 = 4:50.
Winner: Marisol (8), Aliah (4)
